About Bee Coffee Roasters
Bee Coffee Roasters is known as one of the OG speciality coffee roasters in the city, and their impact on the coffee scene in Indy is monumental, to say the least. This location is off-the-beaten path, for sure, and not where you’d expect to find some of the best coffee Indianapolis.
All of the roasting for Bee used to happen in this cafe, which was part of its original charm, but now it is charming in a different way. It’s just one of those places where you feel like family.
As with everything they do, Bee Coffee really focuses on quality and community — they’ve perfected their craft over the years while also highlighting hyper-local goods. BJ & Andy (ifkyk) have always been steadfast pillars of the local Indianapolis coffee community and are largely responsible for where we are today. I’m actually not sure which I’d suggest more, their coffee or their conversation. But honestly, you really should shoot for both.
Bee Coffee Roasters is just…… good. Make sure to also check out their location downtown across from the Convention Center.
If you’re an espresso drinker, Bee Coffee Roasters is single-handedly one of the best places in the city to ask for a shot of espresso. They care a lot about how they dial in their beans and the flavor profiles they pull on espresso. Chances are, at least one person working can and will talk your head off about the flavor and mouthfeel of the roasts they have on espresso.
Bee is also really specific in what seasonal drinks they put on the menu, and it shows in the awesome flavor profiles they put together. Some places recycle the same seasonal drinks every year, but no no no, not Bee.
At the end of the day, since Bee roasts their own coffees, they also do a killer job at their drip black coffee and pour overs (when available). You really just can’t go wrong with anything on their menu.
